The sophomore online issue of Newport Review premiered in July, 2008. Highlights of the new issue include winners of the 2007 Newport Review Flash Fiction Contest, plus some amazing fiction, poetry and creative nonfiction by Lisa Borders, Bernard Quetchenbach and Tobi Cogswell. The text is beautifully supported by the gorgeous color photography of Christopher Woods. We are now reading stories of 750 words and under for the 2008 Flash Fiction Contest. The deadline is September 1, 2008. Beginning in September, we will be accepting regular submissions of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, short plays, photography and hybrid forms. Guidelines are posted in the current issue. Our next project will be publicizing the Newport Review through a series of public readings. If you're interested in helping with event planning, fundraising or other work supporting Newport Review, please email me or send a note to Newport Review, P.O. Box 65, Warren, RI 02885. You can also help with a PayPal donation through the link on our home page. Pleasant Drugs Reviewed in The Pedestal Magazine"Pleasant Drugs is a collection of short fiction, but many of the individual stories also operate as mini-novels. Kulpa has a way of drawing the reader into character depth as well as breadth. Whole lived lives are encapsulated within these pages." --Review by Nathan Leslie Read the whole review in The Pedestal Magazine. |
